Local artist Suzanne Gardner, who is also the publisher of The Higher Source, which is a guide to the healing arts, will be offering her first showing of the full color tempera paintings that grace the covers of her publication.
She will be showing the covers, as well as placing emphasis on her Goddess images at the First Saturday Arts Walk in Port Townsend which will take place on Sept. 1, at the Wild Womyn Gallery, 252 Tyler St. There will also be an 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. viewing and 5:30 to 7 p.m. artists reception.
According to Gardner, the paintings symbolize her spiritual journey for the past 7 years. She is currently in transition as she moves more of her focus on generating art for her future full-time career. I am once again following my dream. I am once again putting myself into the hands of Spirit and trusting that this strong inner urge of making my living with my art is one of Truth. I am being asked to have faith in the face of what sometimes looks like an impossibility. But the desire is stronger than it has ever been. It feels like a huge hand pushing me towards my destiny, one that I can envision clearly.
Gardner adds that creating works for commercial ventures like greeting card art and illustration pieces for projects is part of her goal towards an art career. She also creates what she terms Empowerment Paintings on commission embodying images and symbols to inspire and empower individuals, couples, families or groups.
