Poulsbo City Council member Mike Regis became the third mayoral candidate to toss his hat in the ring in Poulsbo. He will join incumbent Mayor Donna Jean Bruce and challenger Sherry Appleton, a former council member, on the September primary ballot.

Regis was elected to the council two years ago. His seat isn’t up for election this time, so he will retain it even if he loses his mayoral bid.

Regis says he wants to go back to basics and focus on cultivating the city’s long-term structure and development potential.

His background includes more than seven years working for the city, primarily in the planning department.
