Looking for a way to volunteer in the community but don’t know how? In the spirit of the United Nations Year of the Volunteer, there’s a new website available at www.kitsapvolunteers.org for anyone interested in finding local volunteer opportunities. Search for opportunities by multiple parameters including geography, subjects of interest and even timeframes. Subjects range from kids and sports to animals and the environment.

The website was created by a group from the Leadership Kitsap Class of 2001. Leadership Kitsap is an organization whose mission is to educate local individuals with an interest in becoming future leaders and to provide the necessary skills to encourage strong leadership in Kitsap County.

Concurrent Technologies Corporation of Bremerton helped create the database, including the format and interactive programming. United Way of Kitsap County donated space on its website and has agreed to continue to maintain the website so that it will always provide current information.

Using the site is an easy way to find organizations that need your special skills. It is also an easy way for organizations to advertise their needs.
