Daniel joins O’Brien & Co., Simmons promoted

Bainbridge Island’s O’Brien & Company, Inc., a nationally known sustainable building consulting firm, recently hired Elizabeth Daniel as Project Manager and Associate and promoted Jane Simmons to Senior Project Associate. Simmons also recently received certification from the US Green Building Council as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional.

Daniel, who will assist founder and president, Kathleen O’Brien with managing the company and consult on projects, brings extensive experience to the firm in helping the construction industry develop job-site recycling programs and to use green building products.

Prior to joining the firm, Daniel was program manager at the Business and Industry Resource Venture at the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce for six and half years. In that position, she developed the Sustainable Building Program that provides Seattle design and construction professionals with information, assistance and referrals on sustainable building topics.

Simmons has been with the firm since 1997 and is responsible for research, writing, and document production. Recent projects include the handbook for the Built Green program for the Seattle Master Builders Assoc.; a best management practices manual for the California High Performance Schools project, and homeowner and contractor manuals for the TALUS development. Her LEED accreditation enhances the firm’s work on local and national green design and construction projects. Simmons has a B.S. in chemical engineering and is a P.E. Mechanical Engineer in Washington.
