BKAT Emmy Awards – The envelope please...

Bremerton Kitsap Access Television (BKAT) presented its second annual Emmy Awards program recently. Over 50 people attended the event at the Silverdale Community Center, hosted by the “Art Critic,” Fiona Desmund. The program was developed last year to recognize creativity and quality in local television.

And the winners are:
• Community Media Issues: “Our Community” by Darlene Gomez;
• Community Event: “S.K. Talent Show” by South Kitsap High Video Students, “KCM Awards 2000” by Robert Wall and “Miss Rodeo Washington Coronation” by Dee Kinder and Rinda Picard;
• Unintended Comedy: “Clueless Kayaker” by Robert Wall;
• The Environment: “Cooperative Approach to Combined Sewer Overflow Reduction” by Chance Berthiaume and Richard Foxworth;
• Music Video: “Butterface – Parasite” by Robert Wall;
• Live: “School Success” by Diamond Baird, Bremerton High Video Student;
• Targeted Audience: “Cooperative Approach to Combined Sewer Overflow Reduction” by Chance Berthiaume and Richard Foxworth and “Reduce under Age Drinking” by Shirley Wise;
• Video/Computer Art: “Bulletin Graphics” by Charlie Noard;
• Documentary: “Fishing the Big Blue III” by Robert Wall;
• PSA’s/Promo Spots: Silent Games Promo by Wendy L. Baxendell and Don Taylor;
• Shorts: “Apple Cider Pressing” by Rinda Picard, “Your Passport to the World” by Kitsap Regional Library;
• Entertainment/Comedy: “Explosive Shorts Video Collection” by Kyle Thompson, “The Jon Report” by Jon Briggs;
• Sports Events: “Prime Time Sports” by Diamond Baird, SK “Girls Basketball” by SKHS Video Club;
• Programs by Youth – High School: “Wolf Tracks” by SKHS Video Students, “Knight Talk” by Heidi Heroux, BHS Video Student;
• Entertainment-Dance: “Nutcracker” by Diamond Baird;
• Entertainment-Drama: “Home For Christmas” by Gene Peterson;
• On the Fringe: “Bremerton Baseball” by Anthony Belgarde;
• Inspirational/Spiritual: “So What Do We Do With Easter” by Tedd and Janet Crist;
• Entertainment-Music: “Steve Hutchins-Off the Cuff” by Steve Hutchins;
• Instructional: “Breakfast Around the World” by Lindsay Brockman.

BKAT provides the general public with access to the community. The channel reaches half of Kitsap county households, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Over 7,000 hours of local video programming are cablecast from BKAT annually.
