Located at the top of Mile Hill Drive in Port Orchard, South Park Village shopping center is the process of undergoing a major facelift. The center, built in the 1960s, is one of the oldest in South Kitsap and was the first commercial development built outside the downtown core. This is the first time any major renovations have taken place.
South Park Village is home to a QFC grocery store, Cinema One Video, South Park Cleaners, an Allstate Insurance office, South Park Pharmacy, Long Johns Barbershop, Giottos Italian Restaurant (formerly Captain Ks), the Styling Rendezvous, Papa Johns Pizza and Pawsitively Pets. Both Kitsap Bank and Washington Mutual also have free-standing branches on the site. All the businesses are open during the remodel.
When completed, the shopping center, which consists of two separate buildings, will boast shingle-style siding and trim treatments for each building. Also, new lighting for both the businesses and the parking lots as well as new storefronts and walkway ceilings will help contribute to a village-type theme. A third building was torn down. Although it couldnt be confirmed specifically what is planned for that part of the site, its rumored to be professional offices suitable for medical tenants.
The complex is owned by Gig Harbor-based KKLD, Inc. The work is being done by John Gray Architects under a contract with Mountain States Construction. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of this year. |
