Artists Edge features two

The Artists Edge Gallery, located at the east end of the Manette Bridge in Bremerton, will be featuring the work of mixed media Bremerton artist Chuck Smart and photographer Nicholas Alexander Merrill.

Smart, whose work will be on display beginning June 1 and running for the entire month, has gained international recognition over the last several years, most recently in Indonesia designing musical instruments, furniture and clothing, all of which has been exhibited in the Northwest.

In December, he photographed for publication, the International Jazz Festival 2000 in Havana, Cuba and he one of three artists, including Jacob Lawrence, whose work was selected by the U.S. ambassador for his personal residence in Swaziland, South Africa.

Merrill is currently a student at the Art Institute of Seattle and has studied under Candice Brown of Kalamazoo, Michigan.

His exhibit, which runs the entire month of July, and features a July 6 artist’s reception, profiles the artists and the art scene in Bremerton.
