The gallery talks will take place on Saturday, May 5 at 2 p.m.
Fleeting, ephemeral but anchored in paint and stone, the exhibition openings are May 5 and run through May 28. Local artists in this exhibition capture a wisp of wind, a hint of light, the sigh of spring, the eager uncertainty of a new and unknown path.
Susan Croy Roth follows the eyes fluid flight through farmlands and fields, water and skies, plucking brief moments from the Northwests great expanses. Her pastel landscapes draw heavily from Bainbridge Island locations, capturing an afternoon shadow or a wildflower emerging from early morning fog. Fascination with the play of the skys ever-changing light on the mood of earth-bound humanity informs the new body of representational paintings.
With this exhibition, Brian Berman closes eight years as an emerging sculptor and teacher on Bainbridge Island. His latest body of work, created for this event, explores moving from the safe and known to the new and undiscovered as he prepares to move off-island and begin a new phase of life.
Dramatic angles, shadows, and strong light sources reveal Megan Drews intense study of color in bold landscapes of Ireland and the Pacific Northwest. Her dry pastel paintings celebrate slice of life imagery the vibration of a moment, the power of an initial impression as she sees herself journeying toward becoming above all a colorist.
Founded in 1948, Bainbridge Arts and Crafts is a not-for-profit, community-based arts organization and gallery exhibiting fine craft and art by local and regional artists. Profits support arts education and help fund public school art programs.
