A 30,000-square-foot Jo-Ann etc. store is getting set to open at Silverdale Plaza. The store shares space with a new Staples office supply outlet in what was the old Safeway store at 2850 Bucklin Hill Rd.

Construction began in December of last year and a June opening is anticipated. Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. is the parent company and the nation’s largest fabric and craft retailer.

The Silverdale outlet will be the third Jo-Ann etc store in the state. The first Jo-Ann etc in Washington opened in 1999 in Federal Way and the second in Tukwila last May. In addition, there are 35 traditional Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts stores of approximately 15,000 square feet each in Washington.

Jo-Ann etc is the company’s newest brand, with stores three times larger than traditional fabric and craft stores, featuring expanded fabric and crafting products, a full schedule of educational programs and new custom services.
