Leadership Kitsap, a group formed in 1993 to promote informed and committed civic volunteerism is recruiting its Class of 2002. More than 130 individuals ranging from elected officials, senior executives, and professionals to civic-minded county residents have completed the program.
Leadership Kitsap is a ten-month commitment to an intensive and personal training curriculum. It is for people who see themselves acting in leadership roles in their place of employment and/or their community. The program includes eight challenge days one Friday per month beginning in October. They address a wide array of issues affecting the Kitsap community such as health and human services, economic development, education, and law enforcement.
There are also two Friday/Saturday retreats, one in September and one in February that focus on leadership skill building.
The class for 2002 will begin in September and run through June 2002. The tuition for the program is $1200 with some scholarship assistance available. Applications are due April 30. Applicants will be interviewed in May.
