Internet and Your Child seminar set

“The Internet and Your Child,” a free, hands-on Internet safety program for parents, teachers and other people who oversee the online activities of children, will take place on March 31. It will be held at Paladin University, 1040 Hostmark Ave. in Poulsbo.

The event will start at 8:30 a.m. and run to 4:30 p.m. Knowledge of computers is not a requirement.

The Internet and Your Child is being conducted by volunteers from the law enforcement community and from corporate computer security specialists in the Kitsap County area. The course covers everything from how computers work, to the various areas of the Internet, to live demonstrations of how child molesters use chat, e-mail and other methods to gain access to child victims online.

Computer hacking, fraud, ethics and information about copyright infringements are also covered, giving parents vital information on what they can do to minimize the potential of their child falling prey to these subjects/activities on the Internet.
