Hunting and fishing specialty store
opens In Port Orchard

Bay Street Outfitters is a new sport shop that recently opened in downtown Port Orchard. It’s located on Bay Street adjacent to the waterfront in the new complex of buildings recently constructed by Joe Mentor.

Owned by Derek Mills, Bay Street Outfitters carries a wide inventory of everything for fly, salmon, steelhead, trout or bottom-fishing, including rods from G. Loomis, St. Croix, Fenwick and Lamiglas.

It also offers everything from fly-tying materials to waders, including rods, reels, line, hooks, lures, organizers, a labeled selection of flies, crab pots, duck and goose calls, and clothing. The clothing lines include coats, pants, hats, boots and gloves all suited to different weather conditions. Fishing and hunting books are also available as well as novelty items.

Hunting rifles and shotguns are also offered, and in April the store will be qualified to sell fishing and hunting licenses. Additional plans call for the store to offer live bait (such as herring, shrimp and nightcrawlers), as well as sea kayaks for summer rentals.

The shop also does outfitting for guided fishing and hunting trips and can connect customers with guides or lodges for trips in Washington, Idaho, Montana and Alaska.
