Boosting public awareness of the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerces many community services to improve the chambers effectiveness is a chamber goal for 2001, and to that end the chamber contracted with Pat Andrews of QBI Management Services in January to provide increased public relations services.
We have always kept a low profile, said Jack MacArthur, chamber director. But we do a lot in this community and have more to offer that the public is not aware of.
From providing island information and vehicle licensing to working with city government and creating classes tailored to community needs, the chamber serves many segments of the islands population and its organizations.. Improved public understanding of its widely varied roles will improve its effectiveness in serving the community, MacArthur said.
Andrews is a former writer for the Bainbridge Island Review. She has lived on the island for 12 years with her husband Roger and their four children. |
