The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is now offering free complaint handling. The BBB began charging for complaint handling in 1998. Prior to that time it charged a nominal fee for inquiries on the consumer hotline as part of national test administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
The BBB receives no government support or tax revenue and is a non-profit organization supported primarily by membership revenue of the nearly 11,000 local member businesses in Oregon and Western Washington.
It offers reliability reports on member and non-member companies, charity reports, complaint handling services, consumer education booklets and reports, and a free consumer hotline which can be reached at www.thebbb.org, or (206)431-2222 in Western Washington (503)226-3981 in Oregon. |
