Silverdale artist Kathy Cotey, known for her quilting, making of cloth dolls, counted cross-stitch, knitting, crocheting and ceramics, is being featured at Poulsbos Verksted Cooperative Gallery.
Cotey now spends most of her time quilting, and designing and making Angel pins inspired and encouraged by her aunt. She has been creating the Angels for about five years and as each one is created, it inspires a name that seems to reflect its individual personality.
Cotey counts her children and other family members as the source of names for the Angels, including some biblical namesakes. One of her more popular designs includes the use of antique silver-plate spoon handles. The Angels are mostly one of a kind, and Cotey has also been commissioned by customers to create keepsake Angels from their family heirloom silverware.
Her Hope Angel has been adopted by the Kitsap County Chapter of the American Diabetes Association and has been presented at national meetings in Washington, D.C.
The Verksted Gallery is located at 18937 Front Street in Poulsbo. |
