The 14th annual Festival of Trees, the Nov. 24-27 fund-raiser for the Harrison Hospital Foundation, set another money-making record by bringing in approximately $260,000 in gross receipts. Thats about $12,000 more than was raised last year. Proceeds from the festival have been designated for the recently opened Womens and Childrens Services at Harrison Silverdale.
The events financial success was due in part to the popularity of its ticketed events, while general attendance over three days was around 10,000.
The top cash generator was the Gala Tree Party, with its two big-ticket auctions. The live auction of 36 big trees and 43 mini-trees raised $99,000.
Chuck and Joanne Haselwood paid the most $8,500 for a mini-tree, an 8-incher adorned with diamond rings, pearls and bracelets. That tree was donated by newly elected State Representative Brock Jackley and his wife Laurie, owners of Daves Loans, Guns and Jewelry, Etc.
Dr. Brian Wicks took home the most expensive big tree, paying $5,200 for the work of art created by Lauran Erickson and Carole Patterson and donated by ActiveLight Inc. The Timberline tree had a wintry theme complete with a stream running underneath and a flat- screen television.
Dr. Thomas Creed, donated the ski lodge-theme tree by which won the Best of Show award, while a White Christmas tree donated by Olympic Anesthesia Services and featuring a life-size sleigh bed and quilt, won the Peoples Choice Award. |
