Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA) will deck the halls from Dec. 8 to 23 with the holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. Adapted and directed by Stephanie Shine, this timeless story marks the return of Bob Zinn to the BPA stage as Ebenezer Scrooge, the embittered, selfish misanthrope who, at the hands of three spirits, is transformed into a giving and caring soul one lonely Christmas Eve.
Shine is the Artistic Director of the Seattle Shakespeare Company where she has directed Hamlet, Henry V, Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, and Henry IV, pt 1. She also directed I Am Of Ireland (which she also conceived and adapted), and A Christmas Memory for Book-It Repertory Theatre and Loves Labors Lost for Cornish College of the Arts.
Shine is a well-known actress in the Northwest, performing locally for the Seattle Rep, ACT, The Empty Space, Seattle Shakespeare Company, Book-It, and Tacoma Actors Guild (TAG) as well as several theatres across the nation. She can next be seen in The Beauty Queen of Leenane at TAG next February.
A Christmas Carol will be performed at The Playhouse on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m. A special Pay-What-You-Can performance is set for Dec. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $15 for students/seniors and $18 for adults. They are available at The Playhouse 200 Madison Ave. N., or may be charged by phone at (206) 842-8569. BPA Box Office hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is being sponsored by American Marine Bank. |
