A Bellevue developer, Loveless Brook Inc., is in the construction stage of a 6,200-square-foot structure going up on the Sedgwick Road side of the Fred Meyer store which opened earlier this year. According to Mel Brook, a partner in the firm, the building will become home to four new businesses when it’s completed early next year — Quizno’s sandwich shop, Cigarettes Cheaper, Money Tree payday loans and either a SuperCuts or Hair Masters hair salon.

The site is on one of three retail pads available on the Fred Meyer property. Rob Boley, a corporate spokesman from the Portland-based chain said there are no solid plans for the remaining pads, and added that the discount chain doesn’t have a boilerplate formula for the peripheral business mix at its locations.

It’s preferable if the new businesses don’t directly compete with Fred Meyer, but Boley said that’s not necessarily a requirement, pointing out that both Fred Meyer and Quizno’s both sell sandwiches.

Loveless Brook Inc. has built two similar structures on Wheaton Way in Bremerton.

Neither the Money Tree, Quizno’s, or the hair salons, which are owned by Regis Corporation, have locations in South Kitsap. Cigarettes Cheaper, a cigarette and cigar store, has another location on Olney Avenue.
