Tips for a safe holiday shopping season

As shoppers rush home with their packages Kitsap Mall offers a few important safety tips to make holiday shopping more enjoyable. Kitsap Mall will not only have additional security in the mall and in the parking lot throughout the season, but the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office will also be around as well.

Following these safety guidelines will create a safer shopping experience:
• Don’t load yourself down with packages. The more bags in your hands the more likely one can be misplaced.
• Hide packages in your car. Make sure the purchases you make are not visible to anyone walking by your car. If possible, put them in your trunk. Also, if you need to unload your packages and wish to return to the mall, move your car to another area of the parking lot. Anyone can watch for people dropping off packages then leaving their car.
• Do not set packages down. Keep a handle on your gifts so no one can walk off with them.
• Keep an eye on children. Make sure they know what to do if separated from parents.
• Ask for a security escort . Kitsap Mall security will be happy to escort you to your car. Go to the Customer Service Booth and a representative will contact security.
• If a package is lost, return to the store where you purchased it to see if it was turned in. The Kitsap Mall Customer Service Booth and each of the department stores also maintain a lost and found.
