Another downtown Bremerton business has bit the dust. Donna Rice’s Backside Pub and Eatery on Pacific Avenue near Burwell, has closed after nearly four years in business.

The eatery, which had been rated as the cleanest kitchen in the county for the three years it operated, had a full liquor license and served both lunch and dinner.

Rice, who has been a professional cook for 36 years, took over the kitchen at the Eagles, Aerie 192, at 6th Street and Washington, Nov. 1.

A sign in the window of the now deserted pub tells Rice’s “shipyard guys” they can get her “famous burgers” at the Eagles. Rice was leasing space for the pub from Soriano’s Real Estate, which is now seeking a new tenant.
