4th annual state screenplay competition open to writers

The Washington State Film Office recently announced the launch of the Fourth Annual Washington State Screenplay Competition. Submissions from writers nationwide as well as Canada will be accepted as long as seventy-five percent of the script can be able to be filmed in Washington. The entry fee is $35 per script and writers may submit unlimited scripts to the contest.

The screenplay competition has six separate categories for full length features and short scripts. Based on a six month, three-tiered judging system, the winners will receive $1,500 each and the two runners up to the feature section will each receive $500. Alaska Airlines has donated one free round-trip coach ticket to anywhere that Alaska flies as a part of the awards packages. At the end of the contest in June, ads will be taken out in the Daily Variety and Hollywood Reporter announcing the winners in order to maximize visibility.

The deadline for submissions is Dec. 11. Applications can be requested at (206) 728-8530.
