Local car dealers donate to Kitsap United Way

Saying, “These auto dealers are really committed to our community,” Barbara Stephenson, executive director of Kitsap United Way acknowledged five local auto dealers who donated over $6,000 through Kitsap United Way’s annual We CARe Auto Dealers Campaign.

Each year, local auto dealers agree to donate $50 per car sold to Kitsap United Way for a two-week period in October.

Participants in this year’s event included Liberty Bay Auto Center in Poulsbo, Today Chevrolet/Jeep and West Hills Honda in West Bremerton’s Auto Center, Automotive Alternatives in East Bremerton, and Dick Vlist Motors in Port Orchard. “Their help means that men, women and children throughout Kitsap County will have greater access to much-needed services,” commented Stephenson.

Kitsap United Way, a non-profit organization helping improve the lives of local residents through a network of programs and services, is currently engaged in its annual fundraising campaign, with a goal of raising $1,650,000 to support 30 local health and human service agencies.

“Local United Way agencies serve over 100,000 Kitsap residents annually,” added Stephenson, “including at-risk youth, the elderly, families seeking hospice care for a loved one, the disabled, women and children escaping domestic violence, and many, many others. It’s only because of Kitsap businesses like these auto dealers that folks are getting the help they need.”.
