Office Depot, Inc. has announced plans to launch SoftwareToGo. The e-library system will use burn-to-order technology, enabling stores to offer a vast range of software titles without the expense of stocking inventory.

To be introduced at approximately 10 locations this fall, the system will let customers select software titles at a product-preview-station touch screen and pay at the register. Typically in under five minutes, the customer will receive the CD-ROM, with full-color package and certificate of authenticity.
