Barker Creek Publishing of Silverdale recently received two national awards for product quality and user satisfaction in educational products.

Magnetic Kidwords, from the firm’s popular Learning Magnets line, won the 2000 Teacher’s Choice Award, which is voted by a select list of 150,000 teachers and given for excellence in classroom product.

Its Draw•Write•Now. series, which was co-authored by Kim Stitzer of Poulsbo, is a Reader Choice Award winner. That award is voted on by readers of “Practical Homeschooling Magazine” and given to products which receive the highest ratings in the areas of product quality and user satisfaction. It’s also featured as a recommended product in the new book “Teaching Learning Styles” and is a top-rated product on toynet.com.

Founded in 1993, Barker Creek has steadily increased its product line. The company purchased Learning Magnets, a Montana educational supply firm, in February 1999 and recently added a line of dry erase boards to its product line. This Fall, the company will introduce a new series of adventure novels for 3rd through 6th grade readers.
