South Kitsap banker Al Blossey
announces his retirement

Longtime South Kitsap banker Al Blossey has announced he will call it a career. The popular banker is vice president and district manager of Pacific Northwest Bank in Port Orchard, which is a subsidiary of InterWest Bank.

When asked about his future plans, Blossey answered, “I’m going to build a house in Manchester, travel and just enjoy life. I’ve had a good career in banking, I’ve really enjoyed it. I enjoyed working at Kitsap Bank and I’ve enjoyed it here. It’s just time to move on. I want to stay in the community though.”

Blossey spent 17 years with Kitsap Bank, serving as a vice president at the main branch until taking the position with Pacific Northwest Bank when founding president Duane Guggenmos retired. Prior to his time with Kitsap Bank, Blossey spent 13 year with Seafirst Bank.

Blossey said he’s looking forward to building his new home, and in his trademarked dry, humorous manner, quipped, “The builder said I could help, and he wouldn’t even charge me extra. He said I could hold the dumb end of the board.”

Leo Bundick, a credit manager with the bank, has been named as the new district manager, and Richard Pifer, the current manager of the bank’s Gig Harbor branch, is being promoted to run the larger Port Orchard one. “It took two people to replace me,” chuckled Blossey. Blossey will retire effective August 31.
