Farm Kitchen is a new, commercial rental kitchen which recently opened in the Poulsbo area. The firm provides a commercial cooking and baking facility for use by local caterers, bakers, farmers, clubs etc.
According to owner Hollis Fay, for most caterers and small food producers, the expense of setting up a health department approved kitchen is beyond their budgets. Fay also noted that people making jams, vinegars, baked goods and the like for sale at farmers markets or wholesale, run into a problem when faced with meeting health department guidelines without a certified kitchen.
