Tweiten announces his retirement
Popular banker to call it a career on Aug. 1

Ron Tweiten, who has been a fixture at North Sound Bank for the past decade, has announced his retirement. He said he will time it to coincide with North Sound’s merger with Frontier Bank, which is scheduled to become effective Aug. 1.

Tweiten put in 18 years with Seafirst Bank before joining North Sound. He worked in a variety of staff and line positions and as corporate staff at Seafirst before joining North Sound almost 10 years ago to open its Bainbridge Island branch. For the past four years, he has been responsible for all mortgage and brokerage operations for North Sound.

When asked what, at 53 years old, he planned to do, Tweiten chuckled and answered, “I’m looking forward to traveling, maybe take a little sabbatical, and from there I’m not sure. Maybe I’ll get involved with a non-profit. I’ll play some golf, travel, who knows? I don’t have any agenda right now except to enjoy myself and spend time with my wife and family.”

Tweiten has been involved in numerous community activities on Bainbridge Island including serving as treasurer for Bainbridge Island Performing Arts, as well as the Peninsula CPA Society, and as a director of the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife Barbara recently celebrated their 27th anniversary. They have three children — a son who is a botanist with Northern Arizona University, another son who is a freelance graphic designer and a daughter who attends Western Washington University. They also have one grandchild.
