take on new challenge

   Charlie and Carolyn Frame of CFA Northwest Mortgage Professionals can’t seem to resist the urge — the urge to merge.
   Last month, the popular Bainbridge Island couple, added the offices of Puget Sound Mortgage and Escrow (PSME) to their growing mortgage, real estate and investment portfolios.
   That deal came on the heals of two others: the acquisition, of Bainbridge Asset Management Corp. with partners Kinam Sohn, Eric Fredricks, and Walt Hannawacker, an island-based property management firm, and the purchase of the 911 Building on Hildebrand Avenue on Bainbridge.
   “We’re the only company now (in West Puget Sound) that acts as its own underwriters, funding department, escrow service and property management firm,” said Carolyn Frame. “We also operate a real estate company for investors.”
   The PSME deal practically fell into the laps of the Frames and CFA Northwest Mortgage Professionals partner Walt Hannawacker. It’s been no secret in local industry circles that PSME, which has offices in Port Townsend, Poulsbo and Bainbridge, had been struggling to stay afloat...  (Full Article)

Health District moves to Government Center
   The Kitsap County Health District moved to the third floor of the Norm Dicks Government Center at 345 6th Street, in Bremerton.All Health District’s telephone numbers will remain the same.
   The Health District also has closed its Parent Child Health Program office at the Gateway Center, 2525 6th Street in Bremerton. The District’s Port Orchard, Poulsbo, and Bainbridge Island Offices will remain open and continue to provide clinic services, public health nursing services and limited environmental health services.

San Juan Navigation inks
international shipbuilding deal
   Three vessels, one at Nam Trieu and two at Ha Long, Vietnam, have been ordered by a joint venture comprised of San Juan Navigation Corp, on Bainbridge Island and international shipping investor Interlink Ltd.
   The San Juan Navigation group, which owns two vessels of its own, typically operates 20 to 25 chartered ships, with an emphasis on receiver relationships, particularly in Asia and Latin America.
   The current new shipbuilding project will continue its path of growth as a ship owner and enable the firm to expand its relationships with a wide range of major agricultural and industrial charterers.

BIAW hosting Kitsap on-site septic briefing
   The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is requesting feedback on the new draft language for the on-site septic system WAC. The resulting feedback provided could be submitted to the State Board of Health in March. Some of the proposed changes include:
  • Operation and maintenance revisions
  • Reconsideration of minimum lot sizes
  • Modifications regarding soil types
  • When drain fields are/are not authorized

Washington Fed declares

Rotary helping homeless
   The Rotary Club of Poulsbo/North Kitsap recently contributed $500 to help support The H.O.S.T. (Homeless Outreach Shelter Team), a program of Catholic Community Services Southwest. Since January 2002, The H.O.S.T. program has served as an interim winter response plan to provide shelter, meals, supportive services and case management for 109 homeless men at rotating church sites throughout the county.

American Marine increases dividend
   The Board of Directors of AMB Financial Services Corporation, the holding company that owns Bainbridge Islaand-based American Marine Bank (AMB) recently declared a cash dividend of 40 cents per share on the company’s common stock for Q4 of 2004. This represents an increase of five cents per share from the previous quarter. The dividend increase is in recognition of continued growth and AMB’s stock value. Dividends on the common stock are payable on January 15, 2005 to shareholders of record as of December 31, 2004.
