Disaster help available for small businesses

Monday retires from Kitsap Bank

American Cancer Society endorses I-890
   The American Cancer Society has endorsed Initiative 890, the Workplace Clean Indoor Air Initiative. The initiative will eliminate secondhand smoke in all public indoor places across our state. To qualify for inclusion on the ballot, over 200,000 signatures are needed before July.

   Kathy LeTourneau was elected Chairperson of the Board at Bremerton Tennis and Athletic Club (BTAC). Local cosmetic surgeon returns
from international conference

to judge professional exhibit
   Bremerton artist Alan Newberg has been selected as one of two jurors for the Jefferson Arts Alliance competitive professional exhibit “Figuratively Speaking; a Juried Show of Figuratively Based Art.”

CTED invests in KREDC
   The momentum continues to build for the Kitsap Regional Economic Development Council (KREDC). The Washington State Department of Community Trade and Economic Development (CTED), announced that $121,152 has been awarded to the KREDC to support a business retention and expansion program focusing on defense-related, traditional manufacturing, and marine services.
   One unique aspect of the program is its outreach efforts to 16-25 year olds, Native Americans, and Navy personnel in transition. The KREDC application was only one of seven selected from 19 applications competiting for more than $1.2 million in one-time state funds, allocated by the 2003 Legislature, for business retention and expansion programs.
   David Porter, EDC executive director commented, “I appreciate CTED’s vote of confidence in awarding this contract to the people of Kitsap County. The award represents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our assets and capabilities. The outcomes will be transformational and help us better to embrace the futures. We have much to celebrate.”
