Paladin presents first royalty check to county
   The Board of County Commissioners was recently presented with its first royalty check from Poulsbo’s Paladin Data Systems, Inc. The money, a little over $7,000, comes from the county’s percentage of the first sale of the LIS proprietary software developed by Paladin in partnership with the county. The software tracks a variety of permitting and land use procedures.
   Paladin is currently negotiating with a number of other jurisdictions for use of the software. The county will receive a royalty from each sale.

Suquamish Tribe acquires
Suquamish Village Square
   The Suquamish Tribe purchased Suquamish Village Square from the Solheim Family Trust in August and is presently managing the property for its retail tenants. The tribe purchased the property to diversify their economic base, to reacquire more of the original reservation land base, and to provide additional retail and office space for the local community.

Mackall earns CAPS certification
   Charlie Mackall, CGR and co-owner of Northwest Renovations Inc., has earned the CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) designation from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelors Council program. Mackall, president of the Homebuilders Association of Kitsap County’s (HBA) Remodelor’s Council, is only the second person in Kitsap County to receive this certification.
   Developed in collaboration with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), a CAPS remodeler has received training in home modifications and working with older adults to serve the growing trend of remaining in one’s home safely, independently, and comfortably.

Energy Northwest Executive Board
   State Sen. Tim Sheldon (D-Potlatch) was elected to the Energy Northwest Executive Board to fill the remaining term of an outgoing board member and former chairman, John Cockburn. Energy Northwest’s Executive Board is composed of 11 members; five elected from the company and six “outside” members. Outside members have no other formal association with Energy Northwest; the board of directors appoints three and the governor of Washington appoints three.

Paratransit selected to operate
public transit service in Oregon
   The City of Bend, Ore., has awarded Bremerton-based Paratransit Services the contract to operate the Bend Public Transit Service. The selection follows a highly competitive procurement process that began last June, attracting bids from the industry’s top transit companies.
   Under the new 3-year contract, which takes effect Dec. 1, Paratransit personnel will operate the system from a facility in Bend, with corporate support from company headquarters in Bremerton.

Rotary sets date for annual garage sale
   Rotary’s annual garage sale (RAGS) 2004 will be held on Sat. the 17th of April 2004. This will be the seventh year Rotary has held this community event at the Kitsap Pavilion. Four local Rotary Clubs join together to plan, organize, collect goods and then sell them in one day – all for the benefit of the local community. All proceeds generated from RAGS go directly back to the community in the form of scholarships, camper ships and help fund community projects.
