ergonomics exemption

Wal-Mart, the nations largest company, gained an exemption from what many business groups consider the states onerous ergonomics rule. Gov. Gary Locke signed off on the deal, set up by Gary Moore, director of Washingtons Department of Labor and Industries (L&I).
The ergonomics rule, the only one of its kind in the nation, is estimated to cost state businesses at least $700 million per year. The U.S. Senate voted not to approve a proposed nationwide ergonomics rule because no measurable benefits could be calculated. But the legislature, with the support of Locke and Moore, imposed one for our state over the objections of the federal government that is even more stringent than the one the feds abandoned... Washington Fed declares 79th consecutive dividend |
Washington Federal, Inc., parent company of Washington Federal Savings, which operates two Kitsap County branches, has announced a quarterly cash dividend of 23 cents per share. The dividend will be payable Oct. 1, to common stockholders of record on Oct. 4.
Established in 1917, this is Washington Federals 79th consecutive quarterly cash dividend. |

Marshalls Printing gets new equipment |
Marshalls Printing changed ownership in May. The new owners are partners, Jim Farrell and Mark Stevens, who between them offer 35 years experience in the printing industry, specializing in offset printing.
In July they purchased a brand new two color offset press a Ryobi 3302H, 11 x 17 full bleed format giving them the capability of printing process color work in-house.
They have also installed a Ricoh wide-format black and white copy machine that does oversize prints (24 or 36 width and as long as necessary, even paper banners), which is suitable for the technical drawings of architects, electricians, plumbers or other contractors. |
