City of Bainbridge Island employee earns certification
   City of Bainbridge employee Victor Cienega earned the Building Operator Certification – Level 1 from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council.
   The certification followed a year of training and project work in building operations. The professional development program prepares facility operators and maintenance staff for certification in energy and resource-efficient building operations. Participants attend training courses in building systems maintenance and complete tests and on-the-job projects.

Health food store opens in Bremerton
   Helen Higgen has opened a new health food store in Bremerton, near Harrison Hospital. Helen’s Healing Foods and Health Library, at 2629 Ash St., specializes in allergy foods and features a health library. Higgen also plans to add a kitchen and demonstrate nutritional foods.

Computer Renaissance shuts doors in Silverdale
   Computer Renaissance, a locally owned computer retail franchise store recently shut its doors after five years in business. It had been located in the Target shopping center at 3299 Randall Way in Silverdale since 1997.
   The Silverdale location was the top Computer Renaissance store in the Western Region for several years, but according to its owner, was hit hard by the post 9-11 retail slump, declining PC prices and margins, and pressure from national distributors such as Dell and Best Buy.
