Job tenure down to 3.5 years
According to statistics recently released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the median tenure for American workers is now 3.5 years, down from a recent high of 3.8 years in 1996.
   The BLS also found that 26.8 percent of surveyed workers have been with their current employers for less than a year.
   Other employee tenure rates include 16.1 percent reporting employment with current employers between 3 to 4 years; 17.1 percent employed 5 to 9 years; 26.6 percent employed 10 years or more; 6.1 percent employed between 15 and 19 years; and 9.5 percent reported tenures of 20 years or more.
