The Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs has recognized the legislative achievements of Sen. Derek Kilmer , by presenting him with its 2007 Legislator of the Year Award.
“It’s a great honor to have the people we all trust the most — law enforcement professionals — telling me that they appreciate what I’m doing,” said Kilmer.
Mike Allen, a WACOPS executive board member from Gig Harbor, presented Kilmer with a plaque that reads “With grateful Thanks from the Washington Council of Police & Sheriffs for Your Efforts on Behalf of Law Enforcement Officers of the State of Washington.”
“Whether he’s working with law enforcement to keep our kids safe with tough laws that crack down on sex offenders, or helping in the effort to recruit and retain law enforcement officers, Derek Kilmer has been a friend of police and sheriffs,” said Lee Reaves, the director of Public Affairs for WACOPS. “Derek is really helping to make our communities safer.”
