Murante is known for his story songs about everyday folks: a veteran’s impassioned display of the American Flag, or the backyard mechanic/Vietnam vet who comes to terms with his life, or the preacher’s wife who haunts the parsonage of a small Northwest town. He will be playing songs from his past CD’s as well as songs from his newest release, “Point Of Entry” at Collective Visions Gallery, located at 331 Pacific Ave. in Bremerton, on Fri. November 20 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance or $13 at the door.
Murante’s voice and songwriting has been compared to such artists as Lyle Lovett, Hal Ketchum and Michael McDonald. With his third CD release, Point Of Entry, he has racked up a string of accolades, the most notable being the “Grand Prize Winner in the folk category of the international John Lennon Songwriting Contest.” He was also a finalist in the Kerrville Grassyhill Newfolk Song Competition in Kerrville Texas as well as a finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival this year. Other awards include an honorable mention in the Peacedriven.com and the international Unisong Songwriting contest.
