Bremerton-based Internet service provider (ISP) Donobi, has expanded into Hawaii with the recent acquisition of an ISP there. Donobi has grown by acquiring smaller ISPs whose owners had to acquire new businesses themselves or merge with another company to grow. Earlier this year the company acquired customers of Webolution of Port Orchard.
Donobi became publicly traded in 2003 after merging with a Silicon Valley wireless Internet firm. Doing so helped it find a niche in offering updated Internet services, such as high speed and wireless Internet access to rural or otherwise under-served markets. It also signed deals to offer hotspots, which create wireless access to the Internet at skate centers nationwide operated by VSC Sports Inc, the Port of Bremerton and Burger Kings in Puget Sound run by Sound City Foods. |
