The international growth of communications advances the need to ensure individual identity. Given increasing levels of fraud and identity theft, there is a growing interest in a simple, practical, reliable and inexpensive means to validate the identity of a person. Since the weakest element of a system’s security is the human being, biometrics, which refers to the use of a person’s physical or behavioral characteristics for identifying that person, has become a more popular and integrated technology for the future.

The most common types of physical biometrics are the fingerprint, handprint, iris, retina and facial features of an individual. The most common types of behavioral biometric technologies are the signature and voice patterns of an individual. Biometrics eliminate the problems associated with password management by measuring human characteristics such as voiceprint, fingerprint, iris pattern, and facial contours.

SAFLINK provides cost-effective biometric security solutions that protect business and personal information through the use of biometrics. In this session, Greg Jensen, its CTO, will discuss actual secure authentication deployments. Customers will share their experience in implementing secure authentication solutions and provide tips for overcoming difficulties. Tips, tricks, and methodologies for implementing a biometric authentication solution will also be discussed.
