Poulsbo’s eAcceleration Corp., which provides computer protection services (CPS) for home and small office home office (SOHO) users, recently announced the availability of an intuitive anti-spam solution that blocks out what new anti-spam laws have not.

Spam accounts for ever-increasing amounts of the electronic clutter that fills consumers’ in-boxes. Often offensive, and almost always a nuisance, unsolicited commercial email has become a major annoyance for the average consumer.

In addition, experts have noted a rise of new spam-generating viruses. These viruses employ spamming practices to generate and spread emails used to steal confidential data such as credit card information and account numbers from computers.

Designed to cut down on unwanted spam, early research indicates that after the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 went into effect Jan. 1, less than one percent of the spam sent to U.S in-boxes complies with the law.

eAcceleration’s spam blocker tool utilizes an artificial intelligence technique called Bayesian Analysis to check every incoming email and determine whether it’s spam or not. The company claims the technology is easy to use and allows the user to “train” the spam blocker according to personal preferences — even if those preferences change over time. All emails deemed as spam are sent directly to the trash, saving the user’s time and storage capacity.
