Wave Broadband is replacing Charter Communications as the cable television and Internet provider in the Port Orchard, Silverdale, Bremerton, and Belfair areas. According to the company, the transition will be seamless for video customers except for a new logo and customer service phone number.
Internet customers with charter.net email accounts will need to convert their email addresses to Waves email domain, wavecable.com.
Wave and Charter created a step-by-step process to ensure a successful email transition. Wave Broadband will use the customers existing email name, but the domain of charter.net has changed to wavecable.com. Charter will continue to support the charter.net email address simultaneously until April 15, to allow time for customers to notify their contacts.
Internet subscribers have already been transitioned to Wave Broadbands network and the company says customers may have noticed faster Internet speeds due to the transition.
Wave Broadband will be offering local broadcast channels in High Definition (HDTV), new Digital Video Recorder (DVR) technology, Video-On-Demand (VOD), more sports programming and Fox Movie Channel. HDTV programming will be available with Waves HDTV Digital Cable Receiver.
If a customer has an HDTV or HD-capable TV, they will still need the receiver, which is available for $5 per month. New DVR Receivers will also soon be available to allow customers to replace their current digital cable receivers so they may digitally record programs.
Waves VOD service will be available to customers in Kitsap and Mason Counties shortly. VOD works like pay-per-view, except customers can watch movies and events at their convenience by starting, pausing and restarting. VOD will also be available with HBO, Starz/Encore and Showtime Multiplexes.
A new Digital Sports Pack will be added, and customers who like sports can choose to add the package for $5 a month. It will include channels like ESPNews, ESPN Classics, Fox Sports World, Fox Sports Net Pacific, Central and Atlantic.
Wave Broadband is a newly formed company owned and operated by local industry leaders. It has approximately 50,000 customers in Western Washington. |
