The South Kitsap School District recently held its All Staff Kick Off for 2003-04 with the theme “Reach for the Stars.” A highlight of the event was alumni speakers from last year’s “Leaders of the 21st Century” activities calendar.

Debby Baker, Account Executive for Silverdale-based Phynity and past Port Orchard Chamber president, was one of those featured who shared her successes and praised specific teachers that had a positive influence on her.

School Superintendent Bev Cheney is a believer in role models and what can be achieved by giving back to the community. “Those in education do not often hear of the influence they have and Debby’s heartfelt story was an inspiration to continue building strong positive relationships with students,” Cheney observed. “The power of her story was in providing real-life confirmation of the impact that teachers can have on students with whom they teach or interact.”
