NW Commnet recently completed construction of the first stage of its fiber optic network in Bremerton. The project extended an existing fiber optic network to NW Commnets downtown collocation facility, as well as connecting to the KPUD fiber backbone.
Construction is complete on the first stage of our planned network, said Vice-President and Chief Engineer John Stockwell. We are building our previously announced private network to provide wide-band connections for businesses that need to connect multiple offices, as well as for industry clusters such as the medical community, Stockwell said.
Part of the project entailed building fiber onto NSB Bangor to support our customers on the base. We are linking to our Network Operating Center in downtown Bremerton, as well as to the Westin Building in Seattle. We completed installation of the fiber on Submarine Base, Bangor, last month, and are completing the connection to the KPUD fiber this week, he continued.
We have extended the existing fiber network to a new location for Kitsap Community Resources, linking them to their existing locations, Stockwell added. Our fiber network will continue to extend to new areas of downtown Bremerton, and we will begin construction in East Bremerton around Harrison Hospital in the next thirty to sixty days.
