The Literacy Council of Kitsap will offer two five-week classes in Microsoft Word in Poulsbo, beginning in mid-May.
One class will run 1-2:30 p.m., Mondays and Thursdays, beginning May 12; the second will run 10-11:30 a.m., Tuesdays and Fridays, beginning May 13. The class site is a private computer lab in Poulsbo. Basic computer skills are a prerequisite for enrollment.
North Kitsap resident Sam McKeel is the instructor. To enroll, call (360) 373-1539, no later than Monday, May 5. There is a $25 registration fee to cover the cost of course materials.
The Literacy Council provides free tutoring to adults in reading, writing, math, English as a Second Language and GED preparation, both one-on-one and in small-group settings. Computers are available at the councils Bremerton and Poulsbo offices for students to practice their skills.
The Poulsbo office is on the upper level of the Marine Science Center, 18743 Front St. It is staffed 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays and can be reached during those hours at (360) 598-5950. The Bremerton office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fridays.
