NW Commnet to build fiber optic network
in Bremerton

NW Commnet recently announced it has begun construction of a fiber optic network in Bremerton. The project will extend an existing fiber optic network to NW Commnet’s downtown co-location facility, as well as into businesses in the downtown area.

“Construction is scheduled for completion by the end of May,” said Vice-President and Chief Engineer John Stockwell. “We are building a private network to provide wide-band connections for businesses that need to connect multiple offices, as well as for industry clusters such as the medical community,” Stockwell said. “In addition, wideband capacity permits specialized services to be provided. An example is hosting critical applications in our co-location facility and the customer is then able to use them as if they were on the customers internal network. We also can provide very high speed internet access, as well as traditional and non-traditional telecommunication services such as voice circuits and Voice-Over-IP (VOIP).”

NW Commnet is a joint venture of Convergence Technologies of Bremerton, and Telebyte NW of Silverdale. Convergence Technologies is a registered Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC), while Telebyte NW was the first ISP to open for business in Kitsap County, and has been a leader in providing Internet Services.

NW Commnet provides construction and maintenance for outside plant such as placing Fiber Optic cable, and inside plant such as wiring for telephone and computer systems; provisioning, installation and maintenance of telephone and computer systems and services. Through it’s affiliate program, NW Commnet can also provide outside and inside electric power wiring and support systems.
