The West Sound Technology Professionals Association (WSTPA) will hold its monthly meeting on March 20, at the Marine Science Center, 18743 Front Street NE, in Poulsbo, The meeting will consist of networking sessions before and after a presentation by Nelson Ludlow, PhD, the CEO, Mobilisa, Inc., who will be discussing Wireless Security Keeping Your Business Safe.
Dr. Ludlows presentation will focus on exploring the critical issues that every business should take into consideration with regard to the use of wireless networking technologies. Wireless 802.11 products are increasingly popular, yet they are often installed incorrectly, which makes wireless networks prime targets for hackers. This presentation will explore the risks and will describe specific ways to improve the security of a companys wireless networks.
Dr. Nelson has over 20 years experience in software development in the military and corporate worlds and holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and completed Post-Doctoral work in Computer Science at the University of Cambridge, England.
While an Air Force officer, he served as a mathematician, a pilot, an intelligence officer, Technical Director for Artificial Intelligence, and Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School. In the corporate sector, Dr. Ludlow served as a Director at SAIC, Chief Scientist for the ORINCON Corporation, and Chief Technology Officer for Ameranth Wirelessall in San Diego.
One of his wireless software projects was nominated by Bill Gates, and selected by Computer World for its 21st Century Achievement Laureate Medal.
His Port Townsend-based company, Mobilisa, has conducted wireless security analyses for companies such as REMAX Realty, NASA HQ, Army Corps of Engineers, and the Washington State Ferries.
