Online privacy guide released
The United States Chamber of Commerce has released “Privacy Made Simple,” a guide to online privacy management, in conjunction with the Privacy Leadership Initiative (PLI).

The do-it-yourself manual offers a comprehensive look at the privacy issues that companies face and provides workable solutions to real world problems.

“Small and medium-sized businesses are increasingly looking to e-commerce as a way to reach new customers and streamline operations,” said William Kovacs, the Chamber’s vice president of environment, technology and regulatory affairs. “Protecting consumer privacy is a critical component of doing business online.”

The handbook is designed primarily for small and medium-sized companies that are looking to develop or upgrade their online privacy policies and notices. It includes an assessment tool for current practices, an overview of legal requirements, targeted information dealing with child restrictions and European Union regulations, and a comprehensive glossary of privacy terms.
