| Poulsbos Paladin Data Systems Corporation, the northwests largest independent Oracle consulting group, presented a major new technology known as Corporate Portals, at Hawaii ITEC recently.
Projected to be a $14.4 billion industry in 2002 by Gartner Group, portals will change the way every one of us conducts business in the future, says Jay Morrow, vice president of solutions at Paladin.
Robert Johnston, vice president and co-founder of Paladin, joined Morrow at ITEC, and added enhanced technical expertise to the discussion.
The fundamental purpose of a corporate portal is to provide a personalized single point of access to dynamic information, essential applications, and business processes to customers, business partners or employees. Portals authenticate the user, and arrange and display the information that is most pertinent to specific individuals. Analysts say the technology provides an integration point for Internet and intranet applications, and can provide a way for workers to more easily arrange information as needed on a day-to-day basis to help them do specific jobs more efficiently. Portal advocates say the technology can become the corporate workplace by providing all the information workers need in one desktop location.
The Hawaii ITEC is attended by leading decision-makers and top level managers from the academic, military, public, private, and corporate communities. Leading technology companies showcase the very latest from the world of technology at the event. |
