Just ask! For a web site face lift
By Becky Wiles
In June, I wrote about standards web developers are using for project management in the IT field. The standard encompass functionality, design, content, originality, professionalism and effectiveness. So how do you, the decision maker, incorporate this into your web marketing plan? Let’s start by addressing the following strategies:

1) Shift Priorities. If the marketing budget does not include a line item for web site maintenance, make one. Recently at a Bremerton Chamber of Commerce membership meeting, Lennox L. Scott, President of John L. Scott Real Estate said that the only thing print advertising is good for in the 2001 century is advertising your web address. Some may frown at this. I invite you to take a look at the cost of print compared to the cost of web site maintenance and you’ll find the price will drive you to choose web advertising in the scheme of things. Make sure you establish realistic expectations for each priority at certain stages of your business cycle.

2) Define Success. Using a proven set of criterion for the process of building and maintaining your web site is the same as using criterion in any business process. Make sure that your web developer has set up a set of criterion in which to judge the process they use and the outcomes of the site.

3) Share The Knowledge. In today’s team environment, it is desirable that we share our knowledge. If you really have someone that is wonderful in one area of their field yet could use a little help in another area, suggest that a combined effort be taken. Find people who support your endeavors.

4) Kick it up a Notch! Why settle for less than what you want/need to make you and your business the best it can be? There are many professionals in Kitsap with experience and commitment for your web site. Tell them that you are ready to take it to the next level; to kick it up a notch; enhance the web site; or whatever jargon that you feel comfortable with. Ask for results.

Just ask for a web site face lift. Enhance the customer experience. Be active in the process. Just Ask.
