E-business models that don’t suck
After a tumultuous year, e-businesses that survived are showing some patterns. These include:
• Products with high value-to-weight ratios. Tickets and software are good. Dog food bad
• Categories with a large variety of products. Example: Computer equipment
• Product categories with extremely fragmented vendors

An ample array of vendors ensures you’ll have access to product. By way of negative example, some cosmetics sites have floundered because Estee Lauder dominates the high end and has been choosy about online retail outlets.
