| MetLife has announced a seven-year, $470-million contract to outsource its telecommunications networks to AT&T. The contract calls for AT&T to manage MetLifes voice and wide area networks, and provide connectivity among all MetLife locations.
Services will be provided through AT&T Solutions, the networking professional services arm of AT&T Business. AT&T says the contract involves the management of more than 5,000 devices, including routers, PBXs and local area network (LAN) hubs.
AT&T will help MetLife migrate its network to a common operational platform with standardized networking applications. AT&T Solutions also will provide data-and voice-network engineering support and transport support. In addition, it will provide sales-office-implementation support for subsidiaries MetLife Financial Services, New England Financial, and MetLife Auto and Home.
Additionally, MetLife and AT&T say they will jointly develop communications standards that can be used within MetLifes business units. |
