Paladin University expands boot camp offerings
Paladin University recently announced it is adding several new Boot Camps to its training schedule in response to the growing demand for training outside of the traditional Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) path.

The new Boot Camps are:
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Boot Camp.
This is a five-day camp to prepare students to take the CCNA exam. The course covers the OSI reference model, LAN & WAN networking protocols, the basic features and functions of Cisco products and how to configure a Cisco router. The Cisco Boot Camp will be offered quarterly at Paladin University starting in January.
• Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) 2000 Upgrade Boot Camp.
Microsoft’s retirement of the MCSE NT 4.0 certification training path on December 31, will make upgrading to the new MCSE 2000 certification mandatory prior to December 31, 2001. Paladin University will offer a five-day curriculum to prepare students for the MCSE 2000 upgrade exam. This Boot Camp will be offered at regular intervals throughout 2001, beginning in February.
• Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD) Boot Camp.
For students who wish to obtain their MCSD certification, this 2-week course delves into Visual Basic, SQL Server, and Designing Data Models. Projected start date for the MCSD Boot Camp is the Summer of 2001.

“Many of our students already have a good baseline knowledge of technology,” said Peggy Roy, Paladin University’s Director of Education. “A Boot Camp gives them the additional information they need to pass the certification exams. Boot Camps aren’t for everyone — that’s why we talk personally with each student interested in the Boot Camp Experience. If it turns out that the Boot Camp is too advanced for a student, we work with that person to build a training plan that meets their needs and is appropriate for their knowledge level.”

Paladin University’s last MCSE 4.0 Boot Camp in 2000 is scheduled for December 2 through 16, and is the last chance for individuals to obtain an MCSE for NT 4.0 before the new MCSE 2000 requirements take effect. The MCSE 4.0 certification is good until December 31, 2001 and can be upgraded at any time by passing a free upgrade exam.
